There is a stigma against people who work indoors. They are told that they have cushy jobs that don’t require much physical activity. If you are working outdoors then it is completely believable that you will have a riskier job than if you are indoors. However, that doesn’t mean that people indoors don’t also have risks when it comes to getting injured on the job.

4 Types Of Injuries

Thankfully California believes in a “no-fault” workers compensation claim. This means that when you create a claim you do not have to assess blame, prove employer negligence, or that there was legal wrongdoing in order for you to obtain your benefits. Whether you work outdoors or indoors, there are certain kinds of injuries that just happen:

  1. Slip and falls: whether you are working on a construction site or in an office setting if you slip and fall you are at risk for an injury. If you fall forward you are more likely to reach out and therefore bring injury to your arms and shoulders. If you fall backward you are more likely to injure your lower back and your head.
  2. Something falling on you: Even though you may not work in a dangerous area like construction workers, if you work anywhere with shelving then you are at risk of something fall on you. Those who work in retail or service industry understand the importance of looking up as well as looking down.

RSI’s are more dangerous than you think and can cause temporary or permanent pain that affects your ability to work.
  4. Crashes and collisions: So many jobs require public transportation or are around transportation. Crashes and collisions may not be the most frequent, but they can be fatal.

When considering an office setting, the most common type of injuries is RSI. For example, if you are a computer technician then you are working on computers all day. Therefore your back is hunched, your shoulders round, and your wrists and fingers locked in the same movement. You try your best to move about every hour and shift your eyes every 25 min, but ultimately that affects your efficiency. It’s a wonky decision: protect yourself or keep up the pace of the job. Common injuries for those who work at the desk include
